Soft Porn Movie producer and soap maker, Socrate Safo, who is known for dirty "handiworks" such as "Adults Only" and "Hot Fork" says Ghana’s movie industry will go down the drain sooner than later...and we at ThePrinceLive.Com say otherwise..We're all aware of the current situation of the Ghanaian movie industry - it's now surviving on poor quality movies made from "Kumawood", with lame story lines and actors [Most of them if not all].
Honestly, the quality movies which are produced by good producers (with close to high budgets) have low patronage on the Ghanaian market, making their productions cumbersome for most investors and movie producers.
Go to OSEWUS Ventures or any other movie sale outlet and ask of which movies are in high demand now. We do not wish for the downfall of the movie industry but we think it's high time resources are put together to revive it!
Movies shown on our free-to-air TV stations are those made some time ago....new movies are now in limited quantities on the market, good story lines and resources are now hard to come by now adays so most producers and actors are temporary out of their jobs.
I recently saw a movie trailer of a Kumawood made movie titled "Made in Agege" and I think that's a step in the right direction to revive our dead industry.

In an interview on the Scoop on Hitz FM, Mr. Sarfo revealed his decision not to fund movie production from his personal resources because, it is not economically sensible to do so in the industry’s current state.
He would rescind his decision only when he sees visible changes he has been fighting for take effect, he stated.
“An industry has been created to kill an industry. The movie industry has been sacrificed for free TV viewing and when the quality falls, which it will soon, the people won’t even want to watch it for free on TV anymore due to poor quality,” Socrates grieved.
According to him, despite the support the industry is enjoying from President John Mahama, stakeholders do not believe the future looks bright.
He maintained, the only time he would be involved in movie making is when he is sponsored, contracted by someone or a group.
