via cesarean section onJanuary 27 at Zoquipan Hospital in Jalisco, a
town in western Mexico.
The girl became pregnant at 8 and her newborn daughter weighed in at
5.7 pounds, according to The London Telegraph .
The father of the child is allegedly 17 years old and is on the run,
with Jorge Villasenor of the state prosecutors' office saying:
"We are looking for the young man to get his story because she does
not understand what has happened. This is a rape or child sex abuse
case."
Dafne, one of 11 kids herself, did not know she was pregnant until she
was seven months along.
She resides in Ixtlahuacan de los Membrillos, a poverty-stricken
neighborhood 25 miles south of Guadalajara.
"Her parents work all day and were not watching after her and
therefore didn't realize what was about to happen," Lino Ginzalez
Corona, spokesperson at Jalisco State prosecutor's office, told ABC
News.
