- Ev. Diana Asamoah's Manager Attacks Ghana Music Awards Over Questionable Nominations
Posted by : Anonymous
The release of this year's nominee list for the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards as usual comes with a lot of controversies. One newcomer who just joined the list after 7 long years -- Evangelist Diana Asamoah -- may have issues with the nominee list and categories she was nominated and not nominated for. Her management Frimprince Music production had this to say to the organizers.
We are very much grateful as a production house for the nominations given us after seven quiet and beautiful years of staying away from the Ghana Music Awards. We really do appreciate the thought and considerations given us by the Awards Committee. Despite the fact that we are appreciative of your efforts and enormous contributions towards organizing this awards and even nominating songs to fit particular categories we have some reservations.
Evangelist Diana Asamoah and the Song Hymn had 5 nominations in total for which we are very grateful. For the categories ‘Album of the Year’ and ‘Best Collaboration’ we are of the belief that much attention is given to songs on the album. We do not want to seem as if we are blowing our trumpets but for that particular album ‘Pentecost Sore Nnwom’ it is a known fact that it is receiving massive air play from small places like street corners to bigger platforms locally and internationally. It is also known that songs like Hymn, Anopa Wim, Yehowa ne Wodin, Nyame Hyira Abraham, Ntaban, Nto Mentwene, Wo Nnwuma and others have topped a lot of the gospel charts and therefore meets the requirement of that category.
Also if we are not mistaken the categories “Album of the Year” and “Gospel Album of the Year”, seem to have just one song appearing in both categories which is “Selina Boateng’s, I am Grateful”. Needless to say, we are not a disgruntled by this nomination nor are we unhappy that a fellow artiste is been recognized for her efforts at putting together a nice song. We simply would like an answer to this important question, ‘does this indirectly mean “the best gospel album of the year” has already been chosen’? And if I am allowed to ask, for both categories is credit given to all songs on the album or just some songs on the album.
For the best collaboration, our song titled ‘Hymn’ was nominated more than two times for which we are very grateful. A little background check on the song ‘Hymn’ shows it is a collaboration with Adu Nyame an SDA artiste but for some reason we were surprised it didn’t show up in the best collaboration song of the year. We wish to question humbly why or what made us not to get that nomination and what the exact criteria for selection is since in our opinion we seem to have met the requirements.
Lastly, we are again grateful and we hope our questions are responded to promptly
