With the influx of technology, anything is possible. The Google
company has manufactured the first self-driving cars. These cars have no steering wheels - which of  course is not needed anyway and the first functional prototypes were taking for a spin by some people who shared their joy after the ride.
This is what Ghana really needs judging from the fact that a day does not go by without hearing news of motor accidents -- which is mostly caused by careless/drunk driving, over speeding and overtaking. If these cars could replace some of these unprofessional drivers on our Ghanaian roads, the world would be a better place. I'm still fascinated by this innovation, I mean think about what this really mean for those of us who drive long hours from Kumasi to Accra -- this means I can just relax while reading my Daily Graphic and let my car's navigation system do all the work. If this car actually hit the market anytime soon, I think it will replace a lot of other models out there -- the aged, the blind, the crippled and any other physically challenged person can also benefit from this invention. There will be no more hustle in trying to secure a driver's license and also the GHc1 "daily bread" by our police men on our roads will be over. And oh,did I mention that most of our drivers will be unemployed, the taxi drivers and personal chauffeurs will start looking for jobs elsewhere, maybe at the washing bay.
According to the manufacturers "the opportunity for people to move around without worrying is going to be incredibly empowering and powerful for people". Reports also suggests that the driverless vehicles will be ready for production by 2020. Even though it is obvious that these cars will be quite expensive, weighing its advantages means a lot to own one.
I could go on and on about my joy to ride in one of these cars but take a look at this video below!
